A BRIEF INTRODUCTION
The College of Resources and Environmental Sciences (CRES), Gansu Agricultural University (GAU) was founded on December 23 th , 2003. Its antecedent is a major of soil and agro-chemistry in Agronomy Department, which was established in 1959 and then became an individual department in 1980. The college has been developed and enlarged as a comprehensive and mutiple-subject one including agricultural science , management and engineering by the combination of education and scientific research, full-time education as well as adult education with the Bachelor, Master and Ph. D. Degree Conferral Right.
There are 44 faculties in the college, including five professors, seven associate professors and 15 lecturers, as well as one senior and one junior laboratory technicians, six of whom with Ph. D. Degree and 15 Master Degree
The college has three departments, two laboratories and six research institutes.

Since the national 10 th Five-year Plan, the faculty members have been very active in taking part in different research projects funded by the “Hi-Tech Research and Development Program of China (863 program)”, National Natural Science Foundation of China, CAE (Chinese Academy of Engineering) , ACIAR(Australia Center for International Agricultural Research) etc. The main research achievements include four Sci-Tech progress awards and 300 scientific papers.
The College of Resources and Environmental Sciences enjoys good relationship with many foreign universities and institutions, especially in Germany and Australia . The college has long-term agreement with the Federal Agricultural Research Center (FAL) of Germany on scientific research and graduate education. The college has also invited experts from Germany and Australia as adjunct professors and Ph. D. supervisors since 2003.
